Sunday Coffee House is a one-hour radio program featuring music that can generally be described as “Contemporary Folk”. On this program, that encompasses the following genres and sub-genres: Acoustic, Singer-songwriter, Folk, Celtic, Roots, Americana/Canadiana, Blues, Bluegrass, Country-folk and others!

The program began in November 1993 as “Sunday Morning Coffee”, broadcast (oddly enough) Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 11:00am on CJLX-FM 92.3 in Belleville, Ontario, Canada. In late 1995 the show adopted its current one-hour format (10-11am). In 2000, the name of the show was altered to "Sunday Coffee House". In 2003, the program began airing on CKHA-FM 100.9 (aka Canoe-FM) in Haliburton, Ontario. The program is now also heard CFWN-FM, Northumberland 89.7 in Cobourg and CKAR-FM 88.7, Hunter's Bay Radio in Huntsville.

When the show started, there was no internet to speak of, no website, no on-line streaming and social media was an unfamiliar term. Now we utilize all those platforms to help get the word out about the show and the music, and to enhance your listening experience. One of the most recent inovations is on-demand audio, so you can take in the show at your convenience. But, in the end, we remain a radio program at heart.
Although most of the shows are somewhat planned out, there is often a certain amount of spontanety and 'evolution' in the music selection as the show is produced. We like to highlight new releases while still playing tunes from the recent or more distant past. We may try to tie music to current events happening in the world and sometimes a theme is adpted for a whole show.
